"Specifically written and highly recommended for young readers ages 8 to 12. The FunGkins is a superbly crafted fantasy adventure that will prove to be an enduringly popular addition to households, schools, communities, and library collections. It is certain to be a thoroughly enjoyed read from beginning to end." — James A. Cox Editor-in-Chief Children's Book Watch
"I especially loved the beautiful book cover and the relationship between Clara and her Aunt Tilly. The FunGkins is very exciting and imaginative; an excellent novel full of teachable moments for bedtime reading with someone or reading on your own. It has mystery, magic, love and care, history (The Magic Golden Doors, the Cave of Many Voices). It's great reading material for a children's book club. I highly recommend this book and give it five stars." — Dr. Gladys Lyles Retired Professor of Sociology and Anthropology Alabama State University
In this tall tale, the author's ability to describe each and every detail paints a picture in your mind so vivid it's as if you were right there. Not to mention the powerful winged Zebrakhan, the evil long and tall Mr. Mustachio, his talking dog Snodsty. I will say this, my children and I read this book and come away quite simply and thoroughly amazed. This is truly a fantastic read and in my opinion a classic in making. We can't wait for book two of the series. We all give this book five stars. It's a definite must read. — Nikasha J. 5th Grade Teacher George Washington Carver Elementary School

About the Author
C. Raymond Gray's interest in writing began as far back as the second grade. He would give animals like deer and foxes, names. At that time, his favorite read was Aesop's Fables and it ignited his already vivid imagination. It was also at this time he learned the difference between a story and fable.
More than 25 years ago, he started telling stories in his children's classroom. A teacher asked where to find the book. Since it was not for sale, she proposed publishing it for him and splitting the royalties. He decided to write African-American fairy tales from that point on.
